Lomo Ribs with salad and mashed potatoes with gravy at Canto

Can’t Get Enough of… OA at Canto

If you’ve been following “O” and I for quite a while now, then you’ll know that we are a fan of Canto. I’ve written about them before on my other blogs, but because this is a new blog, I figured they deserve to be in this one too, because their food is so good, EatsOA.

It’s the first place in Baguio City that offered mouth-watering, fall-off-the-bone soft, succulent and finger licking good baby back ribs.

Ever since I’ve tried their ribs back in August of 2009 at a friend’s party, it’s been my basis for whether baby back ribs are good or not. Yes, it’s that good.๐Ÿคค

In fact I loved it so much it was one of the things I raved about when I was a speaker at the First Baguio Blog Conference back in 2012.

Anyway, let’s get to the good part, shall we?

Never, and I mean NEVER miss the opportunity to order the Lomo Ribs when you visit Canto. Why? Because if you do, you’ll never know what awesome baby back ribs taste like. For. Real.

“I want my baby back, baby back, baby back, baby back… Ribs…” – Fat Bastard’s song*

It’s good enough for one person with a hearty appetite. You can have it with rice or mashed potatoes but “O” always pairs it with rice (he is a rice person after all).

I always end up just leaving the bones from the ribs whenever we eat at Canto. The barbecue sauce is just perfection. The mashed potatoes and gravy compliments the baby back ribs and the salad, OMG, it’s refreshing and filling at the same time. I especially love the watermelon and peanut brittle with the lettuce drizzled with perfectly seasoned vinaigrette. Sometimes they put in strawberries instead of watermelon, it’s good too, but I like watermelon better. The baby back ribs as I said is fall-off-the-bone soft. Just like how it’s supposed to be (in my opinion, at least.). At 209Php, it’s definitely worth it.

Sometimes “O” likes to mix it up and orders something different, so for this particular visit, he ordered the Chicken Pastel.

It’s reminiscent of the Chicken Parmesan Pie of Foggy Mountain Cookhouse, but it’s totally different, but it tastes good too. I especially love the mashed potatoes on top, it compliments the sauce and everything, definitely worth trying out. I can eat this alone, but “O” had it with rice of course. It’s good for 2 to share and is only 325Php.

Lucas is somewhat a picky eater, so for him, we ordered this plate sized Fish Pizza, because he claims he’s had enough pork or beef the past week and wants to live “healthier” (oookkkaaay… ๐Ÿ˜…).

Fish Pizza

Of course Lucas ended up removing all the alfalfa sprouts (not a fan of these sprouts too ๐Ÿ˜…). But overall, he ate it just fine and I love tuna, so yes, ended up eating some of this too. For 200Php, I think it’s a steal. I am not a fan of thin crust pizzas, because I like my pizza doughs thick and chewy, but this one was okay, better than what they sell in most pizza places.

And because we had extra kids that day, we were baby sitters for our friends’ children that day, we ordered Chili Fries (99Php) and Taco Salad (130Php) as well.

I am not a fan of beans, so I didn’t enjoy these as much, but if you like chili con carne with a little somethin’ somethin’ added to it, then these are for you, it’s also very affordable, so yay!

To wash down all that scrumptious food, you can order the Lychee Slush with Gulaman, it’s oh so refreshing and only for 50Php! Or perhaps Fresh Strawberry Juice, for 100Php, that’s so affordable, you’re crazy not to try it.

OA as Back up parents
OA at Canto, baby is not ours. ๐Ÿ˜…

So, see you at Canto!
